Monosex Tilapia Fry

Sharnalata Agro Fisheries Ltd has been producing high quality monsex tilapia fry since 2005. We usually collect broodstock of GIFT (Genetically Improved Farm Tilapia) from Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute and World Fish Centre.

In 2011, we have collected Tilapia broodstock from Vietnam that grows 20-25% faster than existing strain of Tilapia in Bangladesh. Our director Mr Kadir Tarafder received training improved broodstck management in Can Tho University, Vietnam. 

During August 2014, Sharnalata MD Mr Kadir Tarafder has visited Philippines to collect improved broodstock from Philippines which is also high yielding. Monosex tilapia fry from these improved broodstock will be available from mid-March 2015.

We produce about 100% monosex tilapia fry by treating the spawn in cement cistern for first one week. Next two weeks are treated in the pond hapa.

Vietnam Koi Fry

A very fast growing fish suitable for aquaculture in Bangladesh is VIETNAM KOI. In 2010 we have collected koi broodstock from Vietnam with the support from Innovision Consulting (Pvt.) Ltd and Swiss funded Katalysit. This Koi grows as big as 250-300 g within 4 months culture period. FCR is also good, 1.7. Nice thing about this Vietnam Koi is that its body color is almost same as 'Deshi Koi'. Last year we have cultured this koi in our farm and we sold 5 koi/kg size @ Tk 300/kg.

This year we are targeting to produce 3 crore of Vietnam Koi fry to fulfill the tremendous demand we have received from koi farmers around the country.

Carp spawn

We produce spawn of all kind of native and exotic carps. Native carps include Rui, Catla, Mrigel, Kalibaush, Bata etc. Exotic carps are Silver Carp, Common Carp, Grass Carp, Bighead Carp, Sharpunti etc. We regularly collect and develop native carp broodstock from Halda River of Chittagong. For exotic carps, we collect from Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute.

Shing-Magur Fry

Shing (stinging catfish) is a delicious fish which is cultured in ponds with soft bottom. Growth of this fish is not so fast but it has high market price.

Magur (also a catfish) is naturally available in freshwater habitats of Bangladesh. Growth of magur is comparatively faster compared to shing.

Each year, we collect natural broodstock of shing & magur from Mohongonj haor area of Netrokona and Shunamgonj haor area. We breed between Netrokona and Shunamgonj stock to create heterogeneity in characteristics. As a result our shing-magur fry grows faster than any other hatchery produced fry.
